It seems that the more children I have the younger they are when they start saying, “Why?” when I tell them something. Matthew was about 4, Christopher 3, Sarah 2 and now Laura is 1, almost 2.
I told her, “Laura, may not,” the other day, and she put on her “roar” voice and said, “Whyyyyyyyyy?????” I couldn’t believe it; it was all I could to keep myself from laughing. It was hard, but I said, “Laura, may not say why. Say, yes Ma’am.” “Yes, Ma’am, ” she answered. Since then, she has said “why” to me, but not in the same “I’m a lion, and you’d better do what I want” voice.
I guess I won’t be surprised if our next child says “why” at 6 months. 🙂
