So many people have read my post about Iodine, Fluoride and Thyroid Function that I feel compelled to share more information that I have gathered from reading, and talking with people who have also experienced fluoride poisoning or who are familiar with detoxification. The Lord has graciously led me to people who understand and have been able to give good suggestions.
I am not an expert on this subject, so please take what I share and do your own research.
Fluoride builds up in your body over a long period of time–50% of what goes into your body is stored in your bones, teeth and tissues. One sign of F poisoning is fluorosis: white or brown spots or pits in your teeth. If you have this you can be sure that you have F poisoning. Go here for a list of other possible symptoms.
Many of us have been exposed to high amounts of fluoride in drinking water, medications, pesticides, processed foods that are made with water, general anesthesia during surgeries, window cleaner, toothpaste and fluoride treatments at the dentist’ office. Antibiotics and general anesthesia contain high amounts of fluoride which alone are enough to poison a person even without all the other exposures. Cipro is one antibiotic which should be avoided, yet is given out readily by doctors.
My severe symptoms, including thyroid pain, swelling, iodine intolerance (F displaces iodine in your body), weakness, intestinal pain, gallbladder pain and lung pain, and sensitivity to other chemicals, started last summer right after I took Cipro for an infection. And in the past two years I have had three surgeries requiring general anesthesia. My miscarriages started when we were living across the street from a heavily sprayed cotton field. Besides that, we live in Florida. Chemlawn does a booming business down here. Many of our neighbors use their services, but even if they don’t pay for Chemlawn, they use Weed and Feed. Weed and Feed contains 24D, which causes miscarriage and spinabifida. These chemicals end up in our drinking water, along with the fluoride and prescription medications so widely used in our country.
Fluoride is in about 1/3 of all medications, and that number is increasing. It is a highly reactive halogen which combines easily with other elements and is able to propentiat the active ingredient in the medicine, making it more potent, thus allowing the manufacturers to use less of it. This saves them money and increases their profit. Fluoride is able to cross the blood brain barrier, which is why it is used in anti-depressants. Go here for a list of fluoridated pharmaceuticals.
Aluminum has been found in the brains of Alzheimers patients. However, aluminum is not able to cross the blood brain barrier. One theory is that fluoride combines with aluminum, allowing the aluminum to get into the brain, causing the disease. Fluoride and aluminum combine easily, becoming aluminum fluoride, which is a neurotoxin. Fluoridated toothpaste was once sold in aluminum tubes. Sodas contain fluoride and are sold in aluminum cans.
Most pesticides contain fluoride. Please see this list of fluoridated pesticides by the Fluoride Action Network. Pesticides are in produce, dairy and meat, water, etc. It is important to eat as organically as possible because our bodies store the pesticides, which gradually build up and cause chronic illnesses. I have heard people say that the organic industry is just out to take people’s money for products which are no better than conventional products. This is NOT true. My body can tell the difference between organic and non-organic foods. Even if I ingest only a small amount of supposedly safe (lower on the list for pesticide load) conventional produce my body reacts with pain and inflammation. Eating the same type of fruit, dairy or meat that is organic causes no problems. Your body may not react the same way to conventional foods, but that doesn’t mean that you are not being harmed little bit by little bit. If you have F poisoning I would also avoid organic raisins, wine and wine vinegar and all juices. For some reason these foods naturally concentrate fluoride, even though they are organic. Do not drink black or green tea, even decaf, and also avoid rooibos and peppermint. These have extremely high levels of fluoride, even if they are organic. Chamomile seems to be okay. You will have to experiment with various herb teas as some herbs concentrate fluoride more than others. Avoid foods and supplements that are grown near the coast, even if they are organic, as they will contain higher amounts of fluoride and iodine from the ocean.
To begin detoxing from F poisoning start eating all organic. Yes it is expensive, but so are medical bills from related health problems. Try to find an organic produce co-op in your area. Drink distilled water or Reverse Osmosis water with minerals added back in, and drink a lot of it. Do not eat any processed food, even organic, because it is most likely made using fluoridated water. Avoid chemical exposures from cleaning products, personal care items and perfumes (see www.allnaturalcosmetics.com for healthy alternatives). Put chlorine filters on your shower. Chlorine, fluorine, iodine and bromine are all halagens so if you are sensitive to one you will be sensative to the others, as they cross-react. We put filters on our kitchen sink, my bathroom sink, our shower, and the cold water going into our hot-water heater. If this were our permanent home we would have put a whole house filter on.
