Here is another short but excellent radio interview from Prime Time America with Paul Butler on the blessings of having a large family. The focus is more on the attitude we as Christians should have toward children than on the exact number people ought to have. There is also a good message for those who can’t have children. The tone was definitely gracious, not boastful or condemning.
One comment that was made was a quote from an unnamed government official, “Christians love babies, as long as they are in someone else’s womb.” I find it sad that in this man’s mind we Christians are not known for a true love of children. I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot during this election season because Christians are rallying around McCain/Palin because Palin is prolife, but at the same time many of us have no problem using birth control (the pill, IUD, depo–anything hormonal or that alters the uterine lining prevents the implantation of a fertilized egg [baby]) that causes the abortion of our own children.
